Location: Remote/Glasgow or Prenton (with occasional travel to the other project office)

Duration : 6 month initial contract with scope of extension or permanency

Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella and PAYE options available

Job Purpose Statement

SPEN has an ambitious, multi-year security transformation programme that is focussed on reducing cyber risk, attaining and maintaining compliance with NIS Regulations and delivering a cyber resilient business. The SPEN Cyber Security directorate is responsible for delivery of the programme through to 2026.

The SPEN Champion's Network Co-ordinator will be a central part of the SPEN Cyber Awareness, Behaviour and Culture team. Working with the Human Risk Manager, they will lead on the organisation of the Cyber Champions Network and the creation and scheduling of other communications methods between SPEN cyber and the rest of the business, with a strong focus on operational technology (OT) cyber security. This will align with the awareness, behaviour, and culture plan as part of the SPEN's security, business and regulatory requirements.

This role will also work closely with the SPEN Communications Team, and would suit someone with a Communications and Marketing background, as well as experience in managing user groups.

Accountability Statements

Cyber Champions Network:

  • Organise monthly Champions meetings, working with the Human Risk Manager and ABC Analyst to create content for dissemination in these meetings.
  • Work with the ABC Analyst to design and create follow up materials for these meetings.
  • Work with an external consultancy to develop the scope and success of the Champions Network.
  • Organise further interactions between the Cyber Team and the Champions Network including job shadowing etc.

Other Communications:

  • Working with the SPEN Communications Team, develop and implement innovative ways of communicating OT cyber news to the rest of SPEN.
  • Working with the SPEN Communications and Cyber ABC Teams, take on the responsibility of current communications projects.
  • Work with the ABC Analyst to produce content for the SPEN cyber SharePoint sites and SPEN cyber newsletter.
  • Reinvigorate and lead on the production of the SPEN cyber podcast.
  • Support the Human Risk Manager with event planning, where appropriate.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Experience designing and delivering organisation-wide communications plans, including designing, and delivering, content.
  • Experience in helping forge a team identity and culture, taking into account wider organisational purpose and values.
  • Experience translating potentially complex messages into easily digestible soundbites, including knowledge which supports colleagues in a home and work environment.
  • Experience communicating to a variety of audiences at different levels of an organisation and with the general public.
  • Experience managing user groups or similar.
  • Experience managing, creating, or editing a podcast and /or experience creating videos is desirable.
  • Experience planning and managing medium-scale events is desirable.
  • Experience organising large events is desirable.
  • Familiarity with cyber, IT or the OT environment and associated regulations (e.g., NIS) desirable, but not essential.
