Buyer

Ashtead Technology are looking for a confident, commercially minded Buyer to join our team at Turriff. In this role, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring goods and services are purchased in a timely manner to meet operational & project requirements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and approved suppliers to deliver best value in terms of cost, quality, and delivery, while maintaining full compliance with company procedures and governance frameworks. This is a temporary position for approximately 10 months. Day To Day You’ll Be Involved In Managing purchase orders & transactions - raising, processing, and accurately recording purchase orders in line with delegated authority, ERP protocols, and procurement procedures. Supplier & cost management - sourcing competitive quotations, negotiating pricing, and contributing to cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining positive supplier relationships. Delivery & order fulfilment - ensuring timely delivery of materials and services, expediting open orders, and resolving delays or discrepancies to support ongoing projects. Cross-functional collaboration - working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to align procurement with technical and project requirements. Compliance & documentation – maintaining procurement records, ensuring supplier compliance with QA and HSEQ standards, and operating within procurement policy and authority limits. What Experience You’ll Bring Previous experience in a purchasing or supply chain environment. Experience working in a project-driven, technical environment. Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities and strong communication and negotiation skills. Knowledge of hydraulic fittings and components - desirable but not essential. Experience using NetSuite - desirable but not essential. CIPS Level 4 qualification or actively working towards it – desirable but not essential. Knowledge of mechanical or electrical components - desirable but not essential.
