Role Summary

You will be an essential part of the Reporting function and head up a focused squad of BI developers who will be aligned to specific food sub areas. Leveraging your expertise and previous experience, your role involves delivering projects end-to-end which deliver actionable insights that drive strategic initiatives and operational improvements. You will oversee the full project lifecycle; from collaborating with business stakeholders to define project scope, to providing technical leadership during the design and build phases, project managing the solution rollout, and assessing the commercial and operational impact.

Key accountabilities of the role

  • Identify opportunities to automate existing manual processes with business intelligence enhancements
  • Gather requirements, scope and design BI/reporting solutions in collaboration with business users
  • Project manage the development of BI/reporting solutions to support business operations and transformation projects
  • Coordinate the testing, training, and launch of solutions
  • Manage the daily wellbeing and performance of direct reports
  • Partner with Change Management and Finance teams to measure and report the impact of solutions
  • Continuously track usage of BI/reporting solutions to understand engagement and effectiveness
  • Provide technical leadership in selecting and deploying appropriate technologies
  • Champion technical best practices and ways of working through the Reporting function and wider Data & Analytics team
  • Support direct reports in setting and achieving their company objectives alongside career development goals
  • Plan and deliver daily operational support to ensure solution availability for business users
  • Support the Reporting function in cloud migration programme, decommissioning legacy solutions where possible
  • Mentor team members and the broader community in enhancing their analytical skills

Key skills and experience

  • Essential: Proven experience in leading the scoping, design, and delivery of BI/reporting solutions
  • Essential: Experience managing a technical team
  • Essential: Proficiency in data visualization and user experience design
  • Essential: Experience testing solutions and measuring impact, either independently or by collaborating with other analysts
  • Essential: Strong SQL knowledge
  • Essential: Advanced skills in Power BI
  • Preferred: Familiarity of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate)
  • Preferred: Experience using Synapse
  • Preferred: Advanced Excel skills
  • Preferred: Background in foods, retail or FMCG
