Role Overview:

  • Within the context of a rapidly expanding company, you will be integrated in a dynamic, stimulating and constantly evolving environment. Based in our London office with some European travel.
  • Reporting to the Senior Regulatory and Quality Affairs Manager, you will actively contribute to the development and maintenance of an effective Quality System, ensure compliance of the products to relevant regulatory and industry requirements across Europe.
  • Coordinate the release activities, OOS, deviations, complaints, and investigations provided by contract manufacturers. Ensure adherence of contract manufacturers to the Quality Agreements and assist in managing the relationships with them, including change control.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance of H&H standards and processes

  • Be responsible for the conformity of pet food and food supplements products sold in the UK and EU taking into account all relevant UK, EU standards.
  • Writing, implementing and updating local Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Co-ordinate product testing – stability, microbiological, palatability
  • Production specification generation and reviews, with high attention to detail and complete accuracy
  • Management of specifications and OOS investigations.
  • Review and maintain COAs
  • Local product release
  • Review and evaluate formulations to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Review labelling, marketing, and packaging materials as well as electronic documentation to comply with regulations.
  • Participation with Europe-wide contract manufacturers (CM) relationships, meetings and audits.
  • Coordination of inspections and audits preparations
  • Follow-up of CAPA and of deviations, raising and implementing change controls (via eQMS)
  • Review and investigation of customer complaints.
  • Participate in cross-team activities and global projects.
  • Work cross functionally, providing quality advice across internalteams, including Regulatory, Product Development, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Digital and Marketing teams
  • Ongoing review of processes and the potential for improvement
  • Implement and promote the relevant brands’ pledge for benchmark standards
  • Work with internal stakeholders to manage safety-related (i.e FSA, EFSA) reports, internal processing and analysis
  • Keep up to date with quality and regulatory considerations and changes
  • Provide regulatory recommendations by conducting research, advising of upcoming regulations, and evaluating the overall impact on the business.
  • Take all appropriate actions and initiatives in order to anticipate and apply legislation where necessary
  • Manage different projects as required by the business
  • Continually analyse and assess personal performance and discuss via key accountabilities with manager at regular performance appraisal meetings
  • Communicate clearly and in advance the identified sensitive points and propose solutions/alternatives

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A degree or equivalent in Science
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in pet food, feed or food, mainly in the areas of Manufacturing, QA/QC
  • A working knowledge of Quality Systems, Risk Management and Compliance
  • Knowledge of UK and EU regulatory requirements for feed or food.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
  • Proactive and highly organised
  • Work across different areas of the business to achieve company objectives
