The role will involve workingboth clinically and as a vital member of the Management Team. We alreadyemploy nurses (including specialists in mental health, long-term conditions,acute care and end of life care), Paramedics and Pharmacists. The successfulcandidate will also manage the Clinical Team Leaders and work with theExecutive Manager to develop services and ensure we are using our cliniciansefficiently and effectively.

The Head of Clinical Services willwork with the Partners as part of the Management Team with responsibility formanaging the range of health care professionals employed by the Practice. The post holder will directly manageClinical Team Leaders and will support them in managing their teams.
Thepost holder will work with the Financial Performance Manager to ensure we meetthe national and local targets.
Latham House Medical Practice is one of the UKs largestdoctors surgeries, based in the Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
Melton Mowbray is a large market townin the fortunate position of being surrounded by picturesque villages,beautiful countryside, and local activities.
To work with the non-clinical management toensure local and national targets are met.
To support the Executive Manager in ensuring allclinical services meet CQC standards.
With the support of Partners to provide clinicalsupervision to a diverse range of health care professionals.
Oversee therecruitment, training, and supervision of all Clinical Team members.
Provide continuedprofessional development opportunities for team members.
Refer to other primary, community and secondarycare members within locally developed pathways.
Work with others to change policies to improvehealth and well-being and reduce inequalities.

Contribute to the education ofprimary and community care clinicians of all disciplines with specialresponsibility for nursing staff.
Contribute and participate asrequired in any research projects within the Practice.
Manage the team performance including regular appraisals.
Work with the Executive Manager and wider team to ensure services areprovided efficiently and effectively and integrate with the wider business ofthe practice.
Undertakeconsultation at an advanced level, using expert knowledge and clinical skillsto ensure patients receive high quality care, delivered in a timely manner.
Proactively identify, diagnoseand manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-termcondition (as appropriate).
Diagnose and manage both acuteand chronic conditions, integrating both drug- and non-drug-based treatmentmethods into a management plan.
Makedirect referrals to secondary care, mental health and social services withinlocally agreed pathways.
Mentorand support other clinicians and undertake clinical peer reviews.
Liaisewith the Practices rota GP and other GPs as required.
Monitor theeffectiveness of own clinical practice through the quality assurancestrategies such as the use of audit and peer review.
Maintain ownclinical/professional expertise by participating in clinical activities,personal development planning, clinical governance and revalidation.
Participate incontinuing professional development opportunities to ensure that up-to-dateevidence-based knowledge and competence in all aspects of the role ismaintained.
Training requirementswill be monitored by yearly appraisal and will be in accordance with practicerequirements.
Keep up to date withpertinent health-related policy and work with the practice team to considerthe impact and strategies for implementation.
The onlyreason for not attending will be annual, study or sick leave).
Support thedevelopment of pathways with tertiary services to enable the Urgent CareClinics to become non-GP led.
Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services.
National Service Frameworks, NICE guidelines etc.)

Satisfactory completion of an enhanced check through the Vetting and Barring Service (this will be taken up if offered the post).

Relevant experience of management of long-term conditions
Ability to assess and manage patient risk effectively and safely in accordance with policies/procedures/protocols/legislation and the needs of the patient and to refer when clinically appropriate using agreed pathways.
Excellent ICT skills, familiar with GP clinical system and with experience of using a range of programs and software including SystmOne, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and the internet.
Able to engage and communicate with individuals and groups, both on a face to face basis and in writing.
Excellent time management skills and proven ability to prioritise workload.
Confident in the accurate analysis of data and information; Able to support and motivate diverse teams of staff.
Proven record of effective use of networking and influencing skills.
