Reed Public Sector Hub isactively recruiting for an interim Deputy Chief Accountant for a Local Authority in Berkshire. Rate: circa £500.00 per day to the candidate, Inside IR35 Contract length – Initial contract will be for 3 months with the possibility of extension. predominately remote, the successful candidate might be expected to come into the office as and when required

You will cover to lead on the statutory accounts production / external audit process, and manage the final accounts team Job Purpose

  • To manage the production of the annual Statement of Accounts.
  • To manage the relationship with External Audit and key stakeholders to ensure accurate information and explanations are provided in a timely manner.
  • To maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts, balances, transactions and controls that facilitate all aspects of statutory and management reporting.
  • To provide technical accounting advice to Council staff to ensure that best practice and relevant accounting standards and guidance is followed.

Qualifications/Education/Training

  • Fully Qualified Accountant
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

  • Substantial experience of working at a senior level within a Finance function and of budgeting, closedown and providing financial information / advice directly to senior finance and non-finance officers at all levels including chief officers.
  • Substantial experience and expert knowledge of applying and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Substantial experience of taking personal responsibility for delivering successful projects through carrying out / overseeing financial analysis/modelling.
  • Substantial experience in delivering financial advice at a strategic level across wide ranging and complex services.
  • Proven ability in effective budget / financial reporting at senior level.
