Applicants would be expected to continue to hold a substantive role in General Practice. The remuneration would be expected to be for one session per week (on the payscale for GP Educators), with the required University duties taken on at times to suit the successful applicant’s other roles. To act as Primary Care role models for students in MBChB Year 3. Working closely with existing Year Directors to help with the smooth running of the campus based teaching and clinical placements including but not exclusively: student support, placement allocation, academic day teaching and assessment planning and delivery.
As a senior leader in MBChB year 3 responsible for representing and acting as a Primary Care role model for students in their clinical transition year.
To support Primary Care teaching in MBChB year 3.
To contribute to the implementation and offer strategic influence over evolving assessment and curricular developments to ensure that the profile and importance of General Practice is reinforced at all stages of our UG education.
To proactively liaise with General practitioners and Hospital sub deans, to ensure continued input and contribution across the range of clinical settings in the West of Scotland.
To attend and contribute to meetings of the Undergraduate Medical School’s Operational Management Committee and other relevant governance committees.
Undertake any other duties and/or activities of equivalent standing as assigned by the Head of Undergraduate Medical School.
A1 Experienced General Practitioner, with a good knowledge of the challenges and opportunities afforded by working in the community.
B1 Good knowledge of undergraduate medical education including teaching and assessment experience.
C1 Ability to develop strategies and make strategic decisions, taking account of policies, multiple stakeholders and contextual factors.
E1 Experience as a medical educator, including design, delivery, evaluation and management of the medical curriculum.
F1 Substantial experience of leadership/management in an undergraduate context.
F3 Experience of undertaking medical education research.
