London, United Kingdom Sovos Compliance Full time

Build your future with Sovos.

If you're seeking a career where innovation meets impact, you've come to the right place. As a global leader, Sovos is transforming tax compliance from a business requirement to a force for growth while revolutionising how businesses navigate the ever-changing regulatory landscape.

At Sovos, we're dedicated to more than just solving compliance challenges – we're committed to making a positive and lasting difference in everything we do. Our teams operate on the modern edge of digital technology, working not only to solve complex business challenges but also to enrich our personal, professional, and local communities.

Our purpose-built systems provide the tools you need to thrive in a world where governments demand increased visibility, faster reporting and greater control over business processes. Excited about the possibilities? So are we

Don’t worry if you don't check all the boxes – apply anyway We're focused on hiring the right people, not just the "right" resume. It's not about what you've done elsewhere; it's all about what you're capable of doing here.

The Work You'll Do:

The Regulatory Liaison Counsel - ISVs and Embedded Partners will play a critical role in supporting and growing Sovos’ global ISV ecosystem and revenue stream by engaging with the Sovos partner ecosystem and supporting their needs as they look to Sovos for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in their solution portfolios and customer implementations. This position combines the expertise of a Regulatory Counsel, requiring deep knowledge and ongoing involvement in the processes of the Regulatory Analysis and Design Department, with the role of a liaison officer dedicated to facilitating partners’ access to the broader regulatory function within Sovos. This role reports to the VP of Regulatory Analysis and Design.

More specifically you will:

  • The Regulatory Liaison Counsel is responsible for bridging the gap between Sovos' regulatory expertise and its strategic ISV partners, ensuring seamless integration of relevant compliance aspects of Sovos solutions in various markets.
  • Partner closely with Sovos functions managing the business and technical aspects of relationships with ISV partners to ensure satisfaction of partners’ compliance needs within the scope of Sovos software solutions.
  • Maintain accountability for a ‘regulatory helpdesk SLA’ that allows Sovos partners to act with confidence, ensuring timely and appropriate Sovos regulatory input towards their customers.
  • Ensure a deep understanding of Sovos Regulatory Affairs and broader interaction with public authorities on an ongoing basis.
  • Work continuously with Sovos Alliances, Sales Engineering, Product Management, and other relevant functions to develop and maintain a robust understanding of Sovos’ partner ecosystem and the specific business processes and associated compliance needs that arise in that context.
  • Represent the requirements of Sovos ISV and embedded partners in the evolving scope and day-to-day execution of regulatory monitoring, design, and affairs in close collaboration with colleagues in the Regulatory Analysis and Design Department, as well as with Regulatory Affairs, Business Analysts, Product Managers, and other Sovos colleagues involved in designing, building, implementing, supporting, and maintaining Sovos solutions.
  • Act as an integral part of the Regulatory Analysis and Design Department, internalizing contextual and factual knowledge that allows the Regulatory Liaison Counsel to act as independently as possible in their key role towards Sovos partners while also maintaining an excellent understanding of roles, responsibilities, and time allocation for partner support within the larger Regulatory Analysis and Design Department.
  • Support the VP of Regulatory Analysis and Design and their teams to ensure optimization of resources in support of all relevant Sovos functions and help them with time and resource planning towards that goal.
  • Explain complex tax rules in clear language for both tax and non-tax professionals, internally and externally.
  • Support Partner Marketing by providing tax-centric marketing material and participating in webinars.
  • In collaboration with Sovos Marketing and partner management functions, participate as a Sovos regulatory thought leader and subject matter expert in Partner events, advisory boards, and publications.

What We Need From You

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent master’s degree in law, finance, or accounting.
  • Proficiency in legislative tracking and tax research techniques.
  • Experience in working within and a deep understanding of the enterprise software market, including the value-add of different categories of enterprise software to size and geographic segments in the business sector.
  • Experience in working with and deep understanding of businesses’ financial, logistical, administrative, and IT processes and strategies.
  • A strong affinity for and proven ability to communicate effectively with professionals in information technology, data science, and computer-assisted business processes.
  • Strong team orientation with a history of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand tax-related postings and documents.
  • Ability to generate and interpret functional and high-level technical design content as it pertains to compliance and business processes.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive to succeed.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize activities.
  • Additional language skills are strongly preferred.
  • Minimal travel required to Sovos locations and events.
