We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in multi-discipline engineering project management in the process industries. The candidate must be qualified to degree level in an appropriate engineering field. As part of the Engineering Projects team, the candidate will support all engineering design and development projects, as well as site infrastructure improvements. This includes project definition, planning, costing, design development, work package task coordination, programme management, reporting, procurement activities, contractor and vendor liaison, installation management, commissioning and handover process. In addition to the above, key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supervising multi-discipline engineering projects from start to finish with support from cross-discipline expertise, including coordination with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient completion to budget, timescale and quality.
  • Project engineering, including definition, specification resource and planning management, design, costing, finance control, procurement, reporting, contractor and vendor liaison, quality assurance, document management and handover for a number of flow facility design and build projects
  • Assisting with the implementation of safe working practices and construction process health and safety guidance and legislation.
  • Leading and supporting a broad range of infrastructure and facility maintenance, development, and improvement projects, working to a structured engineering project process.
  • Liaising with peers to share best practice and foster a continuous development mind-set. Drive and support a learning culture, with effective use of continuous improvement and motivate a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to get the best output.
  • Maintaining and updating plans, schematics, and other technical documentation in accordance with current standards and regulations in support of site infrastructure and operations.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to other engineers, technicians, and production staff.
  • Acting as senior engineer, liaise with peers to share best practice and foster a continuous development mind-set. Drive and support a learning culture, with effective use of continuous improvement and motivate a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to get the best outpu
Essential criteria:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in an engineering discipline or a related field from a recognised institution, plus experience of engineering project management within the process industries.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing projects from conception to completion
  • A thorough and methodical approach to problem solving, alongside good organisational skills and a balanced approach to decision making within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The ability to communicate complex issues effectively to diverse stakeholders, driving continuous improvements with a sound knowledge and experience of health and safety systems and procedures.
  • An adaptable, flexible approach and able to use own initiative and work to tight deadlines with excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Familiar and proficient with typical project management planning and modelling software tools.
  • Working knowledge and experience of process safety, hazard and risk assessment as well as construction management and environmental control.

Desirable criteria:
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics, physical properties and flow measurement
  • Professional certification such as Chartered Engineer status from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) would be desirable.
