Let’s create something incredible together

Observability Engineer

At Anaplan we are looking for a self-motivated Observability Engineer to join our dedicated Observability Infrastructure team. Anaplan is a high-growth company that is leading the way in enterprise planning. We look for exceptional Engineers of all levels - inquisitive, hard-working people who believe in simplicity, agility and performance and can choose and use the best tools for the job. In the role of Observability Engineer, you will be working on the tools used to collect and analyse Observability telemetry (Logs, Metrics and Traces). You will enable engineers across the business to see how their services are performing, and interacting, in a scalable, performant, and cost-effective manner.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, working a minimum of 2 days a week in our London Office, you will be:

  • Administering observability infrastructure.
  • Deploying and configuring OTEL agents to collect telemetry, and to visualise this data in Grafana.
  • Pairing with your colleagues to build everything from rapid prototypes to highly testable and tested platform capabilities.
  • Coaching and collaborating with other platform and product engineers to share best practice on observability techniques and deliver value.
  • Develop custom code in a testable and sustainable way. The team is most fluent in Python, but we are always happy to use the right language to solve a problem.
  • Working with Terraform to deploy Dashboards and Alerts to our Grafana instances in a managed and repeatable way.
  • Working with our stakeholders to translate product goals into prioritised platform requirements.
  • Working in a complex and evolving environment.
  • Anaplan provides services using multiple cloud vendors and our own data centres.
  • We collect data from Kubernetes, VMs and bare metal systems.
  • We encourage and enable the adoption of observability tools to drive great decisions in the business.

Required Experience:

We are looking for people with experience with at least some of these tools or similar products and enthusiasm for learning.

  • Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Jaeger.
  • Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana (TIG).
  • Elastic Search, LogStash, Kibana (ELK).
  • Splunk, New Relic, Elastic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Datadog, Honeycomb, LogicMonitor.

Useful Experience:

  • Experience with TDD (Test Driven Development) and BDD (Behavioural Driven Development).
  • Experience working with Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with DevOps tools like Terraform, Jenkins or Ansible.
  • Working in an agile environment.

What we offer:

  • A rewarding, progressive career with a company that values diversity, flexibility and understands the need for a good work/life balance.
  • Remote and flexible working.
  • Market-leading salaries combined with generous bonuses, equity, and a range of comprehensive benefits.
  • A range of health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • 3 days of additional paid leave every year to support the charity or cause of your choice.
  • Huge problems to solve – you will constantly be learning and pushing boundaries, working with some of the smartest people around
  • Dedicated time for personal development.
