Responsible to : IT Services Manager

Catalyst Computers Systems Ltd supply a dealer management system that is aimed primarily at the motorcycle, caravan, motor vehicle and agricultural industries.

We help businesses manage all areas of their operations from parts and service, through to sales and finance, with innovative solutions to achieve their business objectives.

As a member of the installation and configuration team you will be responsible for installing, configuring and upgrading the baseline for users of our software products across the UK and Republic of Ireland. This includes, but is not limited to, implementing and troubleshooting issues related to hardware, operating systems and the software application. The software applications supplied by our operating companies consist of data held on Linux or Microsoft Windows servers, accessed from client PC’s and Remote Desktop Services connections. Onsite work can result in overnight stays being necessary.

When not performing installation duties you will be based at the Catalyst offices, preparing systems for both installation and direct shipping to customer sites, supporting customers remotely or visiting customers to carry out emergency maintenance tasks.

Liaise with customers, travel to customer site and install equipment
• Act professionally at all times and communicate in a manner which promotes the company, its products and services
• Provide advice and training to customers where necessary
• Become involved in ad-hoc tasks as required.

Essential – Excellent communication verbal and written, customer service skills and an excellent telephone manner
Essential – Possession of a valid full driver’s license is required
Microsoft Operating Systems, PC and Server Hardware, Common peripheral devices (printers, scanners, routers, etc…), TCP/IP Networking, WAN and Internet technologies, and Common Office Applications
Linux operating systems, Server virtualisation and Cloud hosting environments
Desirable – Structured cabling installations

Has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical role resolving issues with and installing servers alongside the build and configuration of Windows Servers and PC’s, peripheral devices and network systems. Any experience of Linux and legacy technologies along with Online/Offline Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory is also desirable.
