Applications are invited for the full-time post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology, with commitment to the General (Internal) Medicine on-call rota, at ST3 or equivalent level. The post holder will be based at Weston General Hospital and will have the opportunity to develop their career in Gastroenterology, with a commitment from the team to assist them in becoming independent in UGI endoscopy within 12 months. Supervised training activities and attendance at regional teaching will be entirely identical to that of our Gastroenterology Specialty Registrar but lacking only a training number. The Royal College Tutor has confirmed that the training provided is recognised for any CESR application. The post is advertised as a permanent contract however a 1-2-year fixed term contract would also be considered.
The post holder will undertake a total of two general gastroenterology clinics per week and support the endoscopy service with both upper and lower endoscopy procedures. Weston General Hospital is JAG accredited and is proud to have retained this for over 10 years. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional service. The post includes a commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota (1:6) plus the G(I)M on-call rota out of hours (1:11).

Weston-Super-Mare is a beautiful seaside location that is popular with locals and tourists. North Somerset, the surrounding county, has lovely coastline and cliff tops and superb English countryside. The hospital itself is less than a mile from the extensive sands ideal for sand-yachting or kiting. The large, diverse cities of Bristol (40 minutes) and Bath are only a short journey by car or train and the train to London Paddington can arrive in under 2hr 30min.
