About the Role | Who are we looking for? We are recruiting an experienced Technical Author to join our team. This is primarily an office-based role within our West Sussex Head Office, reporting to our Engineering Director, the successful candidate will: Create product documentation including but not limited to user manuals, web-based help guides, workflow videos, and other material aimed at increasing the level of knowledge in our userbase as well as minimising the reliance on our engineering and support teams. You will handle the creation of various documentation materials through hands-on exploration of our products, collaboration with engineers and other internal subject matter experts including product managers. Gather and create technical documentation as needed for Product Engineering and the hardware certification process. Collaborate across all departments to create comprehensive 7thSense documentation which will be consumed by internal and external users to allow them to help themselves and learn on their own and at their own pace. Follow the product lifecycle closely and ensure that all documentation and other information is up to date. Support the company with oversight in knowledge management and guidance in delivering internal and external information which is entirely comprehensible and presented in a consistent and coherent manner while aligning with the 7thSense brand standards. Work as the company’s document administrator, managing the organisation of our document repository and ensure versioning and identification conventions are upheld. Optimise technical documentation for AI-driven knowledge retrieval and AI systems integration. Structure and refine content to enhance AI training, searchability, and automated support performance. We are also looking for someone that: · Possesses outstanding communication skills. Your oral, written and presentation styles are outstanding. You know how to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner that is easily digestible. You understand basic learning principles and use them to keep an audience engaged. · You have an empathetic mind who can see the world though our customers eyes. You are analytical and ask questions. · You love to help people. · You have experience with creating various mediums such as manuals, online help portals, and/or online videos coupled with the use of photographs, drawings, diagrams, UI screenshots, and charts to increase a user’s understanding. · You are creative, proactive, and forward-thinking, and a quick learner who will quickly integrate into the team and develop ideas for improved methods that will enhance the understanding of our product portfolio. · You are confident when suggesting improvements based on your own experience and customer feedback as this is a natural part of the role and something we encourage as a business. · You enjoy working alone or as part of a small team. · You can travel to customer sites both in the UK and abroad. This might include assisting in tasks such as end-user training and sales and demo support. Mandatory Technical Skills and Experience | The ‘Must-Haves’ Candidates must have more than 3 years’ experience of working in all the following areas: University degree in a technical field or a communication-focused qualification with demonstrable experience within a technical product development company. A keen interest in technology and a natural desire to keep up to date with events in your field of employment. Excellent written skills in English. Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills Experience as a technical author in a company that produces software products Experience with desktop and online publishing tools and help authoring tools Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them understandable in text, videos, and pictures Able to demonstrate innovative approaches to communication (including use of visuals/different interfaces) to maximize the impact on communication Additional Useful Skills | The ‘Helpful to Haves’ Experience in the media server, pixel processing, show control, and experiential AV industries. Understanding of modern software development techniques and standards Familiarity with PC assembly Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) Valid passport for occasional international travel Driving licence – our office is in the beautiful South Downs National Park and it’s much easier to get there with a car Location 7thSense UK Head Office 2, The Courtyard Shoreham Road Upper Beeding West Sussex BN44 3TN
