We are hiring for Kitchen Assistant/ Chef for our client's project based at Lincoln, UK

Minimum Requirement:

  • Level 2 Food Safety Essential
  • NVQ or apprenticeship in food preparation and handling/cooking ideal
  • If no NVQ or apprenticeship, 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Relevant experience within hospitality, preparing / cooking food

Description:

  • You are responsible for performing all duties as tasked by your Chain of Command with discipline, due diligence and to the highest possible standards at all times.
  • You are to complete any duties in relation to required feeding within the station.
  • Always ensure the highest standards of cleanliness in all catering establishments, using the ‘clean as you go’ & ‘good housekeeping’ principles.
  • You are responsible for the daily administrative completion and maintenance of stature Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental documentation.
  • You are to maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene ensuring you are always correctly dressed, wearing full clean pressed protective clothing as issued.
  • You are required to ensure strict economy in the use of all resources and swift reporting of all defects.
  • You are not permitted to authorise and issue rations unless prior authority has been given by the IP GM or Head Chef.
  • At the start & end of your shift you are responsible for the security of the Mess in its entirety, and you are to liaise with the JNCO/IP Head Chef wrt you duties for that shift. Prior to the end of your shift, you are to complete a thorough check for fire hazards, ensure all equipment and light are switched off, all external doors & windows are secure, and keys are returned to the Maina Guard Room immediately, if applicable.
  • When detailed as last person on shift you are to ensure your work is completed in full and to the highest standards, the Mess is clean, and suitably prepared for the oncoming shift. Failure to complete details without justifiable reasons may result in disciplinary action being taken.
  • Authorised breaks are to be taken as per shift detail; concessionary breaks are at the discretion of your LM. You must, request permission from your supervisor or Mess Manager prior to leaving your place of work.
  • You are to carry out any additional catering or service-related tasks as detailed/instructed by the Chain of Command.
