London, United Kingdom National Deaf Children's Society Full time

Governance, Compliance & Strategy Chapter Member (business planning & impact)
Location: Home-based UK
Contract type: Permanent
Please note that recruitment information in BSL is available from the Jobs page of our website.
About the Governance, Planning & Strategy (GPS) Chapter
We do this by supporting and co-ordinating the quarterly business review (QBR) process, managing our governance, risk and compliance frameworks including safeguarding and information security, and working with people across the organisation to develop and embed diversity, equity & inclusion in everything that we do, both for our people and our customers.
As a member of the Governance, Planning & Strategy Chapter at the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS), you'll be with like-minded and skilled experts, both emerging and established who value and respect each other's contribution. In 2023 we launched our new 5-year strategy Every Moment Counts with an ambitious plan to reach every deaf child wherever they are and whenever they need us. Most of your time will be spent driving the efficient alignment of the organisations strategy with the Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) across our Platforms and Chapters. You will work closely with your colleagues within the chapter, and with leaders across NDCS including Platform Leads, Chapter Leads and C-Suite, to create high-level annual business plans and quarterly memos. You will do this by developing and embedding our QBR (quarterly business review) process and will be a key contributor in ensuring alignment of our strategic priorities and resources.
This involves following agile values and principles and working collaboratively with the product owner and colleagues to deliver on the strategic objectives and value for our customers.
What might a day in the life of a GPS Chapter Member (planning & impact) might look like?
- Bring your planning knowledge, skills and expertise to execute an effective, transparent and continually evolving quarterly business review
- Collaborate with peers within the GPS Chapter to simplify and improve our performance and strategic prioritisation processes through the ongoing evolution of the quarterly business review
- Ensure strategic OKRs are communicated to the whole organisation via memos and annual plans, and there is robust and ongoing monitoring and tracking processes in place
- Assist with completing and presenting risk reporting to the C-Suite and Platform Leads, Finance Audit and Risk Committee, and Trustee Board
- Collate, analyse and report on strategic performance metrics to C-Suite, Platform Leads, and Trustee Board
- Reflect on progress and performance - always looking to improve and keep momentum
- Sharing wisdom, experience, and knowledge with others you will act as an internal challenge/conscience to enable adherence to the principles and guidance of the quarterly business review
- Youre a confident facilitator and have the skills to manage discussions with senior leaders and stakeholders with differing priorities requiring interlock and consensus decision making
- Youre experienced in participating in or running a QBR, organisation-wide planning process or similar transformational change
- You thrive in an agile delivery environment
Strong digital skills and a sound understanding of agile values and principles or willingness to develop this understanding quickly once in post
- Inspire confidence and assurance and are experienced in influencing senior leaders
- Confidence to articulate the organisations commitment to quarterly business review and strategic direction, and challenge any deviation from this
- Experience of collecting, analysing and presenting strategic level metrics and advising on any necessary course corrections or areas of risk
- Bravery, courage and an appetite for risk taking
- A specialism in business planning and impact reporting
Abide by and promote our Policy of Informed Choice, its Vision and Values, Code of Conduct and Equal Opportunities Statement.
- Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
- Develop an understanding of deaf awareness and BSL skills whilst employed with the charity.
To apply for this role, you will have to complete an online application and specify how you meet the person specification criteria, as outlined in the job description.
We welcome applications in BSL. If you would like to apply by BSL video, please contact us as soon as possible and at least five working days before the closing date so we can discuss the process with you.
We expect interviews to be held online.
Please apply asap. The National Deaf Childrens Society is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults and expects staff and volunteers to share that commitment.
This job is being posted by Webrecruit on behalf of National Deaf Children's Society.
