Clinical Research Nurse (1 x senior, 1 x junior)


Here at SRG, we are proud to be partnering with this established CRO, their aim is to help advance medicine and health care. Their clinical research trials cover a wide range of therapy areas, conditions, and symptoms. They use part of medical centres for their trials, so they have better patient access.


They are currently looking for two clinical research nurses, one senior and one junior, to join their site in Birmingham.


The Senior Clinical Research Nurse


This position will line manage the junior nurses and deputise for the site Nurse Manager. He / she will have continuing clinical responsibility for managing the research site in the absence of the Nurse Manager which will include: understanding finances, the deployment, delegation and supervision of all grades of staff and be visible and approachable for patients, staff and visitors alongside conducting clinical work.


Core elements of the Senior Clinical Nurse

  • The post holder will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines.
  • They will regularly take charge of the clinical setting or defined area of the clinical setting of patients and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination and direct provision of high standard of holistic, patient centred care by assessing nursing care and health education needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for each patient.
  • To demonstrate and facilitate others to develop the necessary skills and experience in clinical site management and provide leadership in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
  • Use a range of techniques to set and monitor standards of clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to continually improve standards of care and patient experience.
  • To support the development and implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives.


The Junior Clinical Research Nurse


The junior role will have all the same responsibilities as above without the line management responsibilities.


  • Gain consent of participants prior to carrying out clinical or research-related procedures and treatments as agreed within the trial protocol.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely safety reporting of Serious Adverse Events and escalate these to senior staff, according to trust policy and research regulations
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of research study documentation as delegated by the Principal Investigator (PI) and according to the documents, policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for own workload, work autonomously and manage time effectively, and communicating respectfully to all.
  • Work flexibly and adapt to the changing workload and clinical case mix in the research environment to meet the needs of patients/participants within the research site.
