Senior End User Computing Analyst

Insight Investment is looking for a Senior End User Computing Analyst to join the team in London. This is a highly technical, multi-disciplined, Desktop focused role. The team is responsible for technical support dealing with a wide range of software (Approx. 400 applications packaged) and hardware related issues. Excellent troubleshooting and ability to establish the root cause of an issue is essential.


Platform Profile

  • EUC Desktop Platform is 100% VDI: VMware vSphere / Horizon View
  • Evergreen Windows 10 & Office 365 C2R 64 Bit
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • Desktops are dedicated & persistent – not RDS
  • Application delivery is a mixture of App-V 5 and MSI
  • The management of the Platform\Desktop Environment is user targeted and is heavily scripted and automated utilising Ivanti AppSense and Symantec Ghost Solution Suite (Altiris Deployment Solution)
  • Email is Outlook and on-prem Exchange, with a live project to migrate to Exchange Online
  • System Intelligence Monitoring and Data Collection provided by Lakeside Systrack
  • Security focused systems are Symantec Endpoint Protection, Ivanti AppSense Application Control, Ivanti Device Control (Lumension), Qualys
  • Dell zero / thin clients managed with Teradici Console / Wyse Management Suite
  • We are introducing Unified Comms: Teams VC collaboration and Jabber softphone

Experienced Required

  • Excellent working knowledge of VDI: VMware Horizon View, vSphere
  • Application Packaging: MSI / App-V
  • PowerShell / VB Scripting
  • Appsense
  • Must be able to demonstrate in depth experience in the End User Compute space
  • Ability to determine a problem’s root cause through analysis of events, logs, system behaviour and user experiences and the correlation between this data.
  • Able to quickly establish whether an issue is User Profile, Virtual Machine, Application specific or Device based.
  • Guide Helpdesk in resolving issues which they could have solved (upskill).
  • Work closely with our Infrastructure (Network/Server/Messaging) team to prove out the issue is backend rather than Desktop.
  • Able to identify and highlight related problems that may indicate systemic problems
  • BYOD – We have BYOD policy so users can connect to their VM via their own device
  • Teams – Video Conferencing on Virtual Machines
  • Jabber – Softphone solution
  • Altiris or other Application Deployment Solution e.g. SCCM
