Financial Crime Officer

InterQuest are supporting a growing international bank who are looking for a Financial Crime officer to join their team in London on a 12- month FTC basis.


The Second Line of Defence Financial Crime Officer will play a critical role in enhancing our financial crime compliance framework. This role involves providing independent oversight and challenge to the first line of defence, ensuring that our financial crime controls are effective and robust. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial crime regulations, risk management, and compliance strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to prevent financial crime, including money laundering, fraud, bribery, and corruption.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential financial crime risks and vulnerabilities within the organization.
  • Provide independent oversight and challenge to the first line of defence, ensuring that controls and processes are effective.
  • Monitor and analyze trends and patterns related to financial crime activities, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs on financial crime prevention for employees.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management and regulatory bodies, as required.
  • Stay updated on the latest regulatory developments and industry best practices related to financial crime.


Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience of a 2nd line of defence Financial Crime role
  • Strong banking experience
  • Experience implementing Financial Crime policies and frameworks
