Position Overview

Our Client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in temporary works design, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of our projects. This role demands strong technical skills, leadership qualities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis: Lead the design and analysis of temporary works, including scaffolding, formwork, shoring, falsework, and structural alterations.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices, including BS5975.
  • Client Interaction: Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation in design practices and introduce new technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in temporary works design, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
  • Chartership: Chartered status with a recognised institution (e.g., ICE, IStructE) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, Tedds).
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of construction methods, temporary works design principles, and relevant UK regulations and standards.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
