As a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Big Red Construction, you will be generally site based and oversee the commercial aspects of one or more projects within the business, undertaking your duties to maximise project profitability, manage risks, realise opportunities, and support the commercial function.

Working as part of the project team on site, undertaking the following duties in line with company procedures:

·       Procurement of Subcontractors and Consultants including preparing tender documents, inviting bids from contractors, evaluating the submissions and preparing Subcontracts and Warranty documentation.

·       Managing cashflow including Main Contract valuations and Subcontractor payment processes including site measurement to evaluate the progress of construction work in line with the project specifications.

·       Responsible for the administration of contracts and Subcontracts, ensuring that the parties adhere to their obligations and issuing contractual correspondence as necessary.

·       Analyse project designs and construction methods to identify opportunities for improving value and reducing costs without compromising quality, functionality or regulatory compliance.

·       Change management including measurement and pricing of variations and Provisional Sums.

·       Monthly cost and value reporting and forecasting (CVRs)

·       Client management including attending client meetings, liaising with clients as necessary and providing information on out-turn forecasts against allocated budgets.

·       Pre-construction input including preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects.

·       Undertake any other reasonable tasks that may be required by the business. 

What you will need:

·       A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or related field.

·       Strong commercial and contractual understanding and administration skills.

·       Procurement, cost management, and financial reporting skills.

·       Strong communication skills, Subcontractor management and negotiation skills.

·       Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills

·       Ability and willingness to work collaboratively on-site with project teams to deliver successful outcomes.

·       Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
