Currie & Brown is currently looking for a senior project planner - Aviation role based out of our London infrastructure team. The successful candidate will support project leaders in generating a high standard of project planning service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our client, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred consultant and service provider. The successful candidate will be a key contributor in the project management team assisting in the successful implementation and delivery of large and complex projects.
The role
As a Planner with our growing business, you'll:
- Lead, coach and inspire a team to shape the next generation of planners
- Look at construction projects from every angle to decide the safest and best possible way to deliver them
- Win everyone's confidence and get them on board to follow your plan – including supply chains and subcontractors
- Manage programmes of work to make sure we do what we say we'll do in the right way at the right time to the right cost
- Have a strong handle on every project by reporting on productivity, mapping predicted progress and getting out on site to ensure our progress data's accurate
- Make informed decisions on how best to proceed if any changes are needed
- Be part of a powerful planning community who lean on and learn from each other
- Collaborate across the teams to define plans, update on progress and increase the impact that planning can make on safety and quality
- Get the chance to mentor our Planners and reverse mentor our leaders.
Who we're looking for
To join us and lead a planning team, you'll need to:
- Have significant experience of planning services – ideally within construction
- Know how to use planning techniques and planning toolsets
- Understand tender documents, contracts and specifications
- Understand various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring
- Want to work with people – we're about teamwork, not siloes
- Develop relationships, trust and confidence to get every team to do what's needed
- Be unflappable as situations change, plans evolve and decisions need making.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to Degree/Post Grad level or equivalent in construction or business related field.
- Experience (typically associated with five years' experience) as a planner on projects with a value typically in excess of £20m.
- Significant experience with Primavera software (P6) and MS Excel.
- Experience in planning infrastructure projects in a live operational environment desirable.
- Experience in performing quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis and computer operations.
- Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and start up work processes.
- Understanding of mathematical and financial reports.
- Understanding of NEC types of contract.
