This person will be instrumental in leading our Vector Learn services, providing specialised expertise developing digital and hybrid learning experiences. This role is an IC role, focused developing engaging, interactive and effecting training content for online, hybrid and in-person delivery. This person will also be customer-facing, working with our customer to scope project deliverables and propose bespoke training solution.


This requires someone with a strong work ethic, as we are a remote-first business. We don't believe in long commutes and think we can have it all, striving for a happy workplace. Our core business hours are 8:00-5:00, Monday through Friday, and the role of Lead Instructional Designer is a part-time role of up to 20 hours per week and you will work a hybrid schedule, based in the UK. Although our team is based throughout the UK, we still value in-person collaboration, which is why we have a minimum of one hub day each month in locations including Manchester, Birmingham, and London. The salary for this position is up to £35,000 pro-rata per annum (full-time equivalent).


You will be jumping into a start-up environment, with many development opportunities ahead. You will enable Vector to drive towards its objectives by partnering with organisations to assess learning needs and objectives, growing our training catalogue to create engaging, compelling learning content, and working with SMEs to develop new courses for the life sciences industry.

What you will be doing?

You will work closely with the management team, all highly experienced individuals, and talented thought leaders from the Life Sciences and Talent industry, with an eye on the learning development opportunities in the healthcare supply chain industry.


Here is how you will do it:

  • Instructional Design Expertise: Partner with customers and SMEs to analyse learning objectives, target audience characteristics, and content requirements to create effective learning experiences. Apply instructional strategies, learning theories, and best practices to ensure that the content is organized, structured, and presented in a learner-centric manner.
  • Project Management and Collaboration: Own the learning development roadmap and content delivery calendar. Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders. Manage projects, timelines, and resources to ensure timely delivery of high-quality digital learning materials.
  • Content Authoring and Storyboarding: Create storyboards or prototypes to visualize the flow and structure of the e-learning modules, ensuring that the content is logically sequenced and effectively communicates key concepts. Collaborating with subject matter experts to gather content and transform it into engaging and interactive learning materials using instructional copywriting skills. Develop and design learning assignments such as scenarios, quizzes, templates and workbooks to enhance learning retention.
  • Multimedia Development: Use a range of tools and software to create interactive and visually appealing content, including graphics, animations, videos, and interactive assessments.
  • Technology Integration: Leverage learning management systems, authoring tools, and other software to develop and deliver e-learning content. Keep up to date with the latest technological advancements in the e-learning industry to incorporate innovative features and functionalities into the learning experiences created.
  • User Experience Design: Prioritise user experience to create intuitive and user-friendly e-learning interfaces. Conduct user testing and feedback gathering to continuously improve the user experience and enhance learner engagement.
  • Customer Success: Partner with broader Vector team to develop a strategy and collateral to increase market awareness of Vector Learn offering. Engage in customer discovery and sales calls to develop bespoke learning solutions.

What you will bring to Vector?

  • 3+ years experience in digital learning and/or instructional design
  • Proficiency in instructional design principles and e-learning content development tools in an academic or commercial/corporate setting.
  • Strong knowledge of digital learning best practices.
  • Experience working with customers to scope training requirements and propose learning solutions
  • Experience with content authoring platforms such as Articulate, Rise or Storyline or FlowSparks.
  • Experience in developing online learning resources.
  • Experience in educational / instructional copywriting.
  • Experience in graphic design tools such as Canva to design graphics and collateral to support learning.
  • Experience in multimedia development, design and/or production such as video, animation, interactive software.
  • Project management experience.
