About the Role

My client is seeking a highly skilled GPS Site Engineer to join a leading Groundworks & Civils contractor delivering major Commercial New Build projects across the North West. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of large-scale developments, ensuring precision in setting out, surveying, and GPS-controlled plant operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the accurate delivery of groundwork elements such as drainage, foundations, and earthworks, working alongside site teams to maintain efficiency, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting Out & Surveying – Using GPS and total stations to establish precise groundwork positions for drainage, foundations, and earthworks.
  • Machine Control & Plant Coordination – Collaborating with plant operators to ensure GPS-guided machinery is calibrated and working to design specifications.
  • Data Management – Uploading and managing digital models for GPS-controlled machinery while conducting quality control checks.
  • Problem-Solving – Identifying and resolving any site discrepancies to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet specifications.
  • Compliance & Safety – Upholding health & safety standards, ensuring work is carried out to industry regulations and company best practices.

What They're Looking For

  • Groundworks & Civils Experience – Proven background in commercial new build groundwork projects.
  • GPS & Total Stations Proficiency – Hands-on experience using Leica, Trimble, or Topcon equipment.
  • Plant & Machine Control Knowledge – Understanding of GPS-controlled heavy machinery and working alongside plant operators.
  • Setting Out & Interpretation Skills – Ability to read and interpret drawings, survey data, and digital models.
  • Relevant Qualifications – A Degree/HND in Civil Engineering is preferred, but strong experience will also be considered.
  • Software Knowledge – Experience with AutoCAD, LSS, or Trimble Business Center is an advantage.
  • Full UK Driving Licence – Required due to site travel across the North West.
