Network Engineer – Up to £50,000 Per Annum – West Manchester - Hybrid

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, documentation, and implementation of network solutions to deliver on Freedom Fibre’s business objectives.
  • Manage the delivery of multiple projects at the same time to achieve agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to the build and capacity management of the network, to facilitate optimal network operation under normal and failure conditions.
  • Manage & resolve complex network and system incidents within desirable timeframes to meet defined SLAs.
  • Engage and manage relationships with 3rd parties such as vendors, suppliers, and strategic technical partners.
  • Contribute to the development of automation solutions to improve process/operational efficiency in the Network Engineering team.
  • Participate in the on-call rota to support optimal operation of the network.
  • Support the mentoring of colleagues to aid their development.


Required Skills:

  • Telecoms or Alt-Net background
  • Expertise in Passive Optical Network Technologies (GPON/XGS-PON)
  • Knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching protocols (BGP/OSPF/ISIS/STP/Q-in-Q,Storm control)
  • Firewalling experience


Nice-to-haves:

  • CCNP/JNCIS certification
  • Automation experience (Python/Ansible)
  • Familiarity with network monitoring systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Librenms, Grafana, PRTG)
