Rate: £700 - £775 per day

Responsibilities:

Working with senior client stakeholders to understand required technical capabilities and timelines across related sets of large scale Information Systems delivery programmes.

  • Provide a leadership role within the client side team. Work with client side functional leads to develop and action time bound organisational capability delivery increments.
  • Work with delivery project teams to identify opportunities to trial new ways of working. Identify lessons learned and feedback into approach.
  • Provide outward facing support into Army HQ, Defence Digital and the Army end customer. Cohere approach with transformation activities running outside of immediate client side delivery team.
  • Identify required skills to sustain gains made. Support recruitment as necessary and inform subsequent capability delivery vehicles.
  • Support effective technical decision making as required and present clear ways ahead for stakeholders. Seek to empower others (client team members and colleagues providing client-side support).
  • Help drive improvements in the operation of key delivery programmes to become 'architecturally led' and to benefit from System of Systems & service thinking.

Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of the Deployed and Tactical Military Domains in areas such as ISTAR, Communications and Information Systems (CIS) and Cyber
  • Awareness of relevant technology markets
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to create influence
  • Ability to build constructive relationships with clients, including adapting to their culture and ways of working
  • Excellent understanding of Defence Digital & Military customers and their business processes, specifically: Army's Intelligence, Planning and Targeting Cycles and associated doctrine.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarise, write and deliver concise technical information and to apply appropriate data visualisation techniques
  • Experience within one or more of MOD environments (Air, Land, Maritime, C4ISR)
  • Ability to innovate and develop roadmaps
  • Proven track record in enterprise architecture, identifying opportunities for cost saving and reducing technical debt
  • Knowledge and understanding of Military Communications and Information Systems (CIS), and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems
  • Understanding of both the military customer and defence procurement.
  • Experience in the application of ITIL in the MoD domain
  • Understanding of Defence Digital Common Approach to Architecture (CAA)
  • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) (Desirable)
  • Ability to identify and assess risks and to advise on risk mitigation strategies
  • Broad Knowledge of a range of enterprise-scale ICT delivery mechanisms and software technologies (including Application Hosting, Big Data, DevOps and Virtualised Cloud Services)
  • Good awareness of Safety and Security Management practices in the MoD domain.
  • Hands on experience of configuration management & baseline development through lifecycle on complex programmes
