Joining as a Modern Workplace Engineer, you will play an integral role in the continued design, deployment, and administration of modern workplace technology throughout the organisation. You will act as a subject matter expert for the modern workplace stack and emerging technologies, contributing to the company's longer-term IT roadmap.  

You will ensure the seamless operation and optimisation of the modern workplace infrastructure, providing technical expertise and support for the implementation, configuration, and management of various modern workplace technologies piloting new and emerging tools, championing adoption, and driving best practices.


***This position is to be hired on an initial 18-month fixed-term contract with good scope to materialise into a full-time permanent position if so desired. This position also offers a predominant remote working model with an ideal requirement for the successful candidate to visit our client’s Milton Keynes head office once per week, but potentially flexible***


Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a superior user experience environment and support Modern Workplace and Digital Transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and company health and safety policies and data protection regulations.
  • Architect, deploy, and administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Manage user accounts, licenses, and security settings, and ensure seamless integration with on-premises infrastructure.
  • Design and oversee an Identity and Access Management program, optimizing the Just My Login (JML) process.
  • Own and manage Windows builds within the corporate estate, administering devices using tools like Microsoft Intune or SCCM.
  • Implement security policies, manage OS and application updates, and support collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business.
  • Provide user training and support for Microsoft 365 applications, troubleshoot issues, and maintain user documentation.
  • Plan and execute on-premises infrastructure migration to Microsoft 365 and ensure secure data migration.
  • Monitor and optimize Microsoft 365 services, generate performance reports, and stay updated on the latest features and best practices.
  • Enforce data governance policies for regulatory compliance, conduct audits, and collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address compliance-related issues.
  • Act as a face of the IT Infrastructure Team, provide a friendly and professional colleague experience, mentor team members, and drive Digital Transformation and Digital Workplace initiatives.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise server infrastructure and end-user computing, with a transition path to an architect or management role.
  • Proficiency in modern workplace technologies: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Windows 10/11, device management, collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams), and virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Exposure to emerging technologies like Microsoft EntraID and Purview is a plus.
  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting modern workplace solutions within a corporate environment.
  • Strong system administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and data protection compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities for infrastructure optimization.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, are advantageous.


Salary:             Circa £65,000 Per Annum Salary
