Role Overview



The role is a Fixed Term Contract role - Standard 37 hour working week and contract to end of September. (Fradley Site Contract , so half day on a Friday)



With the closure of the IMI Fradley manufacturing facility being imminent , the Supplier Development Engineer is the primary point of contact between IMI and its suppliers in matters relating to effective resolution of escalated supplier quality and delivery issues (through Supplier Corrective Actions) to ensure timely manner of supply chain transfer to receiving sites between March and August 2024.

SDE sets clear Zero Defects and On Time Delivery expectations and assesses process gaps in the supply base. Additionally, the SDE supports the Procurement, Quality and Production team by ensuring that parts, materials, and sub-assemblies received from suppliers consistently conform to IMI specified requirements. The SDE is responsible to support necessary supplier tooling improvement plans along with development and change activities in accordance with IMI requirements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Solve problems & risks that arise at suppliers that could impact the transfer of production to receiving sites.
  • Drive necessary improvements in supplier quality, delivery, cost and systems.
  • Ensuring the suppliers meet the business needs in terms of responsible business, health and safety
  • For escalated quality issues the SDE drives supplier Corrective Actions to mitigate root cause issues.
  • Supports supplier change requests at the suppliers, APQP activities and PPAP completion + sign off
  • Ensure supplier loan tooling condition status is understood and reported within IMI
  • Conducts supplier assessment surveys as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining supplier performance KPIs, utilizing monthly supplier scorecards and communicate both internally and externally the supplier’s performance.


Critical Competencies for Success


  • Qualification in Quality or Supply Chain Management is preferable, or Five Years related experience.
  • Familiarity with IAFT-16949, ISO-9001:2000, and ISO-14000 quality system standards or other globally recognized quality standards and systems applicable to business requirements
  • Knowledge of APQP tools and techniques (including FMEA and Control Plans)
  • Experience managing projects and cross functional teams.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, pareto and statistics, good knowledge of Minitab / statistical analysis tools preferable.
  • Travel, including air travel, is required (50% of the time within Europe). Must have a valid driver’s license.
