Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Cobham
Rate: £450 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract Duration: 10-12 months
About:
Senior Quantity Surveyor required to provide commercial management, subcontractor management, cost control and co-ordination for large construction project.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for commercial management and contract administration of Subcontractors including management of Early Warning and Compensation Event process.
· To assist with the production of Application for Payment to Client in accordance with the contract.
· To ensure Subcontractor Applications for Payment are assessed in a timely manner including site visits and measurement (where applicable) to undertake the assessment.
· Develop and present cashflow forecast.
· Managing and developing junior surveyors where required.
· Identify and manage opportunities to maximise margin.
· Involvement with tender process including liaison with procurement team and/or presenting recommendations on tender packages for award to demonstrate value for money.
· Work directly with operational and delivery team to identify, escalate, mitigate, manage and price risks and opportunities.
· To control costs on a monthly basis and present variances in overall project position to wider business functions. This includes producing project specific Cost and Value Reports (CVR) for presentation.
· To ensure full compliance with client commercial processes.
· Leading and agreeing final account processes with Subcontractor and Client.
· Undertaking estimates for contracts awarded.
The successful candidate will have:
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar role.
· Experience delivering projects from cradle to grave.
· Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 forms of contract at both Subcontract and Client level.
· A qualification in Engineering or Quantity Surveying (i.e. Degree or Masters)
· Excellent negotiation skills.
· Knowledge and understanding of general sub-contracting principles.
· Ability to provide contract advice to wider team.
· Ability to use own initiative and make decisions.
· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
· Results and delivery focus.
· Understanding and experience of reporting on Earned Value, CPI and SPI.
· Previous experience working within highways sector
· IT literate and in particular, excellent excel skills to manipulate and manage large amounts of data as required.
Desirable:
· Membership of a recognised Professional Institute (i.e. RICS, CICES, CIArb) or working towards qualification.
