The Role:

The VP (AM - Operations & Strategy) will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the hedge fund’s investment strategies. It will also involve ensuring adherence to regulatory requirement by way of compliance and reporting. This role involves working closely with external agencies like consultants and lawyers, portfolio managers, traders, and other stakeholders to ensure that risk and compliance is properly managed and aligned with the fund’s objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Risk and Compliance

  • Setup and maintain risk management and compliance framework and tools.
  • Streamline risk management processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and their impact on the fund’s risk profile.
  • Communicate complex risk concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

2. Marketing Support

  • Interact with potential investors on the Hedge Fund strategy and structure.
  • Evaluate and update the Fund’s marketing literature (e.g. the deck, website and newsletters)
  • Engage with existing investors to ensure that their interaction with the Firm and the Fund is a good one.
  • Ensure that marketing is conducted in accordance with local regulatory considerations
  • Production and Ownership of the AIMA-compliant Due Diligence Questionnaire.

3. Collaboration and Communication

  • Provide insights and recommendations on risk management and compliance best practices.
  • Collaborate with risk team to effectively monitor risk across portfolios.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, and analysts to understand and manage risk.
  • Collaborate with external agencies (like consultants and lawyers) to ensure that regulatory reporting and compliance needs are met with.


Qualifications:

  • University education in Economics or Finance
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, or CFA) would be advantageous
  • 7+ years existing experience in the Risk Management area of Hedge Fund, Asset Management Company, Banks or Financial Advisory for Institutional Investor o Knowledge and expertise with quantitative risk tools like RiskMetrics, Bloomberg MARS/PORT etc.
  • Knowledge of VBA, SQL or Python languages, and main databases and statistical tools for finance
  • Knowledge of European Regulations UCITS, AIFMD, Solvency a plus
  • Experience is setting up Asset Management company will be a big plus


Skills and Competencies:

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of risk and compliance framework for Asset Management.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and financial modelling tools

Industry Knowledge

  • Have a good understanding of each area of Asset Management operations.
  • An understanding of the relevant regulatory environment in the main jurisdictions (including USA, UK, India and the EU27.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance issues related to hedge funds.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and Asset Management operations.
