James Adams is looking for an experienced Programme Manager with extensive experience in the Irish Utilities sector.


This is a permanent position working mostly remote, 1 day per month in Derby.


Job Purpose

To lead and deliver complex programmes within the Irish Utilities Market. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in programme management, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the industry.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Alignment: Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for programmes, ensuring alignment with the organisation's overall goals.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define clear objectives and KPIs.
  • Programme Planning and Delivery: Develop comprehensive programme plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor programme progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to project methodologies and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Effectively communicate programme status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate cross-functional teams to deliver programme objectives.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members.
  • Financial Management: Manage programme budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial accountability.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimise resource utilisation.


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in programme management within the Irish Utilities Market
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, Waterfall)
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in relevant project management tools and software
