FIC aims to build long-term relationships with key clients and gain insight into client strategy and targets to provide original and integrated ideas and solutions.

The role would more specifically target Financial Sponsors Coverage Group (FSCG) as a sub-set of FIC, focusing on building and developing relationships with BNP Paribas Financial Sponsors client base across asset classes and products (incl. Private Equity Funds, Private Credit Funds, Real Assets Funds, as well as private capital arms of Pension Managers, Sovereign Wealth funds, etc).

JOB PURPOSE & SCOPE

Financial Sponsor Coverage Group (FSCG) provides sector coverage to Financial Sponsors and Private Capital arms of Asset Managers, Pension Managers, Sovereign Wealth Funds and Insurance Manager actively investing in Private Capital asset classes (Private Equity, Credit, Infrastructure and Real Estate) across all of BNP Paribas products and solutions.

The Associate will work very closely with the Relationship Managers of FSCG and the Global Head of Financial Sponsors Coverage, in driving client strategy and transaction targeting focused on Financial Sponsors (notably Private Equity) and assist in relationship management of top Financial Sponsor clients, particularly in EMEA, with the goal of driving sustainable revenues growth and institutionalizing relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working closely with FSCG Relationship Managers, you are responsible for supporting and co-ordinating the coverage effort for Financial Sponsors in EMEA including:

Deal Sourcing and Marketing Coordination

· Suggest marketing initiatives (new ideas, ...)

· Responsible for client pipeline coordination on an ongoing dialogue with MD / D across sectors and products

· Track progress on key transaction situations, in a coordinated manner with senior bankers

· Follow situations / clients on a long-term period

· Support and deliver in specific sections during presentations to clients

Execution

· Support on relevant Sponsor Coverage day-to-day execution of deals with product teams

· Interact when required with client’s project manager and deal captains at other advisors

· Supervise preparation of all materials, ensuring high quality standards and reliability

Project management

· Assist on preparation of internal procedures (committees, mandates, etc.)

· Organise work process in coordination with analysts / associates and manage workload

· Keep MD / D informed about progress / bottlenecks and ensure timely involvement of MD / D

· Interact with senior management and relevant project teams across BNPP products, as well as with clients in both marketing and execution projects, where required

· Responsible for liaising with internal product lines, functions and coverage teams to ensure coordinated and timely delivery of client solutions

Team management:

· Maintain accurate internal databases up-to-date regarding core information about our client base, including: Financial Sponsor relationship reviews, opportunities tracking (esp. Sponsor Exit Targets, ongoing M&A/ECM/Lev Fin activity and pipeline), Group financial and reporting information on a quarterly basis, maintaining Customer Relationship Management system updated, events and on-boarding / KYC support to Relationship Managers (MDs / Ds).

Relationship Development

· Good knowledge of the Financial Sponsor universe, investment strategies and evolutions through time (investment criteria, target return, asset allocation, liquidity, financing strategies, etc.).

· Assist in the development of the overall BNP Paribas strategy for the Financial Sponsor client base, in liaison with the Relationship Managers and the Head of Financial Sponsor coverage and sector and products business lines

· Actively disseminate as appropriate, client intelligence to key constituents

Originate Business Opportunities

· Identify and communicate client needs to internal constituents and follow-up with relevant teams to ensure solutions responsiveness to those client needs

· Support marketing actions, in close liaison with local/regional/global business line teams, to ensure that all relevant ideas and initiatives are presented at the appropriate level and in an organized way

· May lead commercial conversations and interact with clients independently under strategic guidance from senior staff, and look to identify new business opportunities

THE REQUIREMENTS

• Prior experience in investment banking and/or financial sponsor coverage

• Good understanding of the financial sponsor client base and different asset classes (in particular Private Equity, but also Private Infrastructure and Private Credit) and of investors active in the space

• Good knowledge of products offered by an investment bank (M&A / ECM, financing, etc.)

• Good knowledge of accounting, financial analysis and valuation methods, particularly as they relate to Private Equity

• Good numerical and analytical skills

• Knowledge of deal processes and key steps for major types of transactions (M&A sells-side/buy-side, ECM, LBO financing, infrastructure financing)

• Computer literacy and a good understanding of a range of standard computer software, e.g., Microsoft Office, Email + Experience in using investment banking databases (e.g. Factset, Dealogic, Bloomberg).
