Logistics Team Lead Job Summary
As the Logistics Team Lead you will provide day to day leadership of the Shipping department by providing advice and direction to the team to ensure a prompt and efficient shipping service for the Company in compliance with all transportation regulations.
Contributing to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers.
- Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes for the HPL & TSS sites to improve operational and financial performance.
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports or customer issues.
- Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report results to others.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities.
- Ensure metrics, reports, and process documentation are provided on time.
- Always maintain sufficient cover for the Shipping team at the HPL site.
- Ensure freight quotes are responded to within 48 hours.
- Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs.
- Support Procurement in selection of carriers and monitor service against performance criteria.
- Support implementation of new ERP for the shipping department.
- Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.
- Responsible for the health & safety of the shipping department.

- You will be comfortable managing , coaching and developing a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
- You will have experience of setting departmental objectives/KPIs, reviewing and assessing ongoing performance of your direct reports.
- Comfortable reporting on achievement of targets and identify any actions required.
- You will be experienced and can evidence your previous achievements implementing transformational change.
Essential Skills:
- Dangerous Goods trained in Air (IATA ICAO), Sea (IMDG), Road (ADR)
- Excellent communication skills.
