About the Role:
As the Production Manager, you’ll oversee the full production process from manufacturing and printing through to despatch. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take charge of factory operations, ensuring smooth and efficient production and on-time delivery of goods. You’ll be managing a core team of 35 full-time employees, with an additional 20 temporary staff brought in during peak periods. Your leadership will be key to maintaining high standards while meeting tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the production team, including direct reports such as the Manufacturing Manager and Print Manager.
- Oversee the performance of a wide range of machinery, including CNC, laser, wood, metal, and plastic-operating equipment.
- Manage production schedules to meet short lead times and adapt to high-pressure demands, particularly around public holidays (e.g. Christmas).
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure production goals align with overall business objectives.
- Ensure quality control and continuous improvement initiatives are in place to maintain high standards.
- Handle staffing requirements, including recruitment and management of temporary staff during busy periods.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless operations and timely product deliveries.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a production management role, ideally in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Familiarity with a wide range of machinery, including CNC, lasers, and other equipment used in wood, metal, and plastic production.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to thrive under pressure.
- A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for implementing new ideas and improvements.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Hours:
- Core hours are 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
- Flexibility required during peak periods, including potential weekend and evening shifts.
