Blueprint Recruitment are working alongside a reputable water engineering contractor, who are looking for an experienced Estimator to lead their estimating team across the UK.


Remote / Hybrid working is available, UK wide


Role Purpose:

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting a wide range of bids and tenders, including several long-term contracts and frameworks across the UK in the construction, water, wastewater, and utilities sectors. This role will involve analyzing bids, tenders, and associated documentation, preparing activity schedules, and calculating time, material, labour costs, and other relevant variables.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the wider team to gather information, develop the company’s proposition, and manage the flow of information.
  • Prepare accurate estimates and tender bids from customer documentation, specifications, and related standards.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication throughout the bidding process.
  • Identify and engage with appropriate suppliers and subcontractors from the company’s database or the client’s preferred supplier list.
  • Generate enquiries, obtain, and analyse quotes for tender requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Achieve competitive quotations and secure pre-bid agreements to strengthen bid submissions.
  • Compile detailed price lists and bills of quantities, covering people, plant, materials, transport, labour, and equipment hire, to inform the tender bid submission.
  • Provide progress reports on all ongoing bid and tender opportunities.
  • Carry out other relevant duties as required.


Key Competencies:

  • Third-level qualification in a related discipline such as Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction/Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Strong time management skills to meet tender deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Innovative, proactive, and commercially aware.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in tender preparation.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience within the water industry is highly preferable.
