Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client's Special Projects Team based in Surrey. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile, bespoke developments, ranging from luxury residential projects to complex commercial schemes. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring these projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Lead the cost management of special projects, including preparation of budgets, cost plans, and forecasts. Monitor and control project expenditure, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
  • Procurement: Manage the procurement process, including drafting and reviewing contracts, negotiating terms, and selecting suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure that all procurement activities are compliant with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Contract Administration: Oversee the administration of contracts, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met. Manage variations, valuations, and final accounts, and resolve any disputes or claims that arise.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with project costs, schedules, and quality. Develop contingency plans to address potential issues and ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with internal teams, external consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure that project goals are clearly defined and met. Provide regular updates on project progress, cost status, and any potential risks.
  • Project Reporting: Prepare detailed project reports, including cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial statements, for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors within the team. Foster a collaborative and supportive working environment that encourages continuous learning and development.


Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 3-5 years in a senior role, ideally within the construction or property development sectors. Experience with special or bespoke projects is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Chartered status with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent professional body is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of cost management, procurement, and contract administration. Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in industry-standard software, such as CostX, CATO, or similar, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Location: Based in Surrey, with the flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
