This company, although perhaps not a household name, has made significant strides in revolutionizing the insurance industry. Since its inception in 2021, backed by a substantial $500 million investment, it has emerged as one of the largest fintech startups of its year. With a focus on digitizing the insurance market, the company has rapidly scaled, doubling its premium writing volume from $400 million in its first year to $834 million in 2022.


The core of the company's success lies in its innovative platform, developed over the past two years, which facilitates fast and frictionless insurance coverage for brokers. To further advance their mission, they are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Development team.


Responsibilities:

As part of the Development team, the Senior Software Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing the company's broker platform, a cornerstone of its success. Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, including experts in software and data engineering, full-stack development, platform operations, algorithm research, and data science, the engineer will focus on delivering high-impact features through a highly iterative and analytical approach.


Day-to-Day Tasks:

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building robust and scalable software for critical web-based applications, designing, building, testing, documenting, and maintaining APIs and integrations. Additionally, they will develop new functionalities within the core Kotlin-based services and assist in migrating existing C# services to a new Kotlin-based microservice architecture. Quality control measures, such as automated testing, pairing, and code review, will be integral to their work. They will also collaborate closely with the Product team to understand end-user requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.


Requirements:

Ideal candidates will have experience as mid-senior level engineers proficient across modern web stacks. They should possess strong software engineering principles (SOLID, DRY, ER modeling), with professional experience in a server-side language, preferably C# .NET or JVM-based. Comfort with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, and familiarity with standard logging and monitoring tools is essential. Experience with continuous integration/delivery, build tools (e.g., Maven), and version control tools (e.g., Git/Github) is also required. Candidates should have experience working in agile teams, following methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, and utilizing project management and workflow tools (e.g., Jira). While previous experience in financial markets, fintech, or insurtech is preferred, it is not essential.
