Who You Are:

We are seeking a hands-on, team-oriented electrochemist with a passion for innovating lithium-ion battery technologies and a readiness to learn new concepts. This role will focus on designing slurry and coating strategies, and optimising electrode performance in state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with scientists, equipment engineers, mechanical engineers, and technicians, requiring strong mental flexibility and collaborative problem-solving skills. A broad technical knowledge base, versatile cooperative skills, and a passionate drive to bring technology to market are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design innovative slurry and coating strategies using extensive scientific knowledge in materials science and engineering.
  • Develop and implement slurry and electrode characterisation techniques to analyse formulation-performance relationships and suggest corrective strategies.
  • Innovate lithium-ion battery development with advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Assemble, test, and analyse coin and pouch cell formats to assess electrode performance at lab/pilot-line scale.
  • Produce technical reports, and effectively communicate ideas and results within the team and to external customers and partners.
  • Advocate for and embody the company values and vision as they grow.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on cross-functional projects.

Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of industry or lab experience (less for candidates with an advanced degree).
  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Industry experience with lithium-ion batteries for both laboratory and commercial-grade cells.
  • Hands-on experience with electrode formulation, slurry preparation, electrode casting, and cell teardown using advanced lithium-ion materials.
  • Proficiency in electrochemical and material characterisation techniques, such as electrochemical tests, SEM, EDX, BET, and TGA.
  • Well-organised, practical problem solver with a curiosity-driven and detail-oriented approach.
  • Proven ability to quickly master new technologies and independently drive improvements.
  • Exceptional communication skills and strong collaboration abilities.
  • Strong data-driven experimental design skills and analytical capabilities rooted in a first-principles understanding.
