As we expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled Fruit and Vegetable Buyer to ensure the consistent supply of top-quality produce for our juicing production.

Job Purpose:

As the Fruit and Vegetable Buyer for Nutriseed, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing a wide variety of fresh produce, ensuring that we maintain a consistent supply of high-quality fruits and vegetables for our juicing products. You will work closely with suppliers, maintain inventory levels, and ensure that all produce meets our quality, price, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sourcing and Supplier Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with fruit and vegetable suppliers, including local farms, wholesalers, and international vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure competitive rates while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ensure ethical and sustainable sourcing practices are followed, adhering to the company's sustainability goals.
  • Quality Control:
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that all fruits and vegetables meet Nutriseed’s stringent juicing quality standards, including freshness, nutritional value, and safety.
  • Regularly inspect and assess the quality of incoming produce and address any discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of fruits and vegetables, minimizing waste and spoilage.
  • Coordinate with the production and warehouse teams to optimize delivery schedules and ensure the efficient flow of produce.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and stock levels.
  • Market and Trend Analysis:
  • Stay updated on market trends, seasonal availability, and price fluctuations in the fruit and vegetable industry.
  • Forecast future demand based on historical data, sales trends, and product development needs.
  • Identify and introduce new or exotic fruits and vegetables that could enhance Nutriseed’s juicing range.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting:
  • Manage procurement budgets and strive to reduce costs while maintaining quality and sustainability.
  • Work closely with finance to track spending, provide accurate forecasts, and report on cost-saving initiatives.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure that all procurement activities comply with food safety, organic, and sustainability standards.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant regulations related to fruit and vegetable procurement, both locally and internationally.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a buyer in the fruit, vegetable, or fresh produce sector, ideally with experience in juicing or food manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in building relationships with suppliers and negotiating contracts.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong understanding of fruit and vegetable varieties, growing cycles, and juicing-specific requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, supply chain logistics, and quality control processes.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and make data-driven purchasing decisions.
  • Education:
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required.
