Senior Linux Engineer – Globally Distributed Server Estate - Systematic Trading Fund – Comp in Excess of £180,000

A technology-centric global hedge fund with London HQ is looking to hire a Senior Linux Engineer to play a strategic role in the build out of a brand new enterprise GPU cluster, looking after Linux compute and storage for the firm globally.


There are a number of exciting projects on the horizon that you will play an integral role in. These will centre around high performance grid computing, ownership and performance of a distributed cluster (several 1000+ servers, 100s of PBs of data) and full automation tooling build out in Ansible. This estate serves 1000s of users globally, who perform rigorous calculations on ultra-large scale data analysis make market-leading systematic trading decisions across all liquid asset classes.


This is a great opportunity for a Linux Computing Expert to have full ownership of a large estate and vastly improve the performance of the cluster to enable the business to scale and improve performance.


Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ commercial experience building and running Linux server estates on an enterprise scale.
  • Extensive demonstrable experience of Linux system administration.
  • Physical server experience is preferable.
  • Strong knowledge of one or all of Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
  • Hands on experience with hardware such as Dell, IBM, HPE etc.
