About the role
Performance and Reward at HL are a key focus for the Board, our leadership team, and our colleagues. Our approach is critical in terms of impact to culture and behaviours, which drives how we deliver the best outcomes for our clients. We have many large priorities which will move at pace over the course of the next two years. This exciting opportunity has been created, to ensure we have the right team in place to drive these forward. The successful candidate will lead on the continuous development of the Performance and Reward philosophy and policy, collaborating closely with the Senior Manager of Colleague Performance and Reward. They will develop and implement the Executive performance and reward proposition and policy and design and implement the non-cash compensation proposition and construct within the total reward offering. This includes all equity compensation, and our pension and benefits offering. They'll also take the lead on all governance requirements, including all RemCo activity and regulatory requirements.
What you'll be doing
You will shape the executive compensation, equity, pensions, and benefits proposition to feed into three-year reward and wider People strategy, taking account of market and regulatory impacts, and in line with HL's purpose and strategy:
Leading on the continuous development of the Performance and Reward philosophy and policy, collaborating closely with the Snr Manager Compensation and performance
Responsible for developing and overseeing implementation of the Executive performance and reward proposition and policy in line with the Reward Philosophy and to enable delivery of HL's purpose and strategy in line with our values
Developing and overseeing implementation of the non-cash compensation proposition and construct within the total reward offering. This includes all equity compensation, and our pension and benefits offering
Ensure discretionary share plans meet strategic aims and are operated in accordance with regulatory requirements and operational needs
Manage agenda and papers for the RemCo cycle, drafting papers and supporting others where required
Manage Reward agenda and draft papers for the Executive Leadership Team Committee cycle
Support the creation of a total reward market view through the lens of equity, pension, and benefits
Responsible for share plan design and management - LTIP, Restricted Stock, Deferral schemes, Fund Unit scheme, Sharesave
Responsible for the Executive Director Remuneration Policy - design, implementation, and consideration of impact on wider workforce
Manage performance adjustment process from P&R perspective, collaborating with risk, compliance and legal/co sec
Responsible for delivery of DRR within governance and reg requirements
Responsible for ensuring all regulatory and corporate governance requirements (as they related to performance and reward) are met
Manage governance requirements, including all RemCo activity and regulatory requirements
Deputise, where required, for the Head of Performance & Reward
Provide reward support for executive hires
Manage, motivate, and coach a small team.
About you
Extensive experience in reward, including managing executive and equity compensation in a regulated, financial services or listed organisation
Experience in overseeing pension and/or benefits schemes would be highly advantageous
Numerate and with extensive knowledge and experience of reward disciplines
Strategic thinking applied to expert technical knowledge
Acts independently and produces work to a high standard, with strong written and verbal communication skills
Manages and prioritises conflicting projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment
Confident to analyse, interpret and summarise succinctly to senior stakeholders and colleagues
An excellent team player, who is happy to be 'hands-on' in the role.
Interview process
The selection process will incorporate competency-based questions including an assessment of your technical knowledge and transferable skills. For candidates who progress to the next stage, there will be an online psychometric assessment and a presentation to prepare and deliver.
Working Schedule
Based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office.
