EdgeMethods is an IoT and Advanced Analytical company, building solutions on the Microsoft Azure Technology Stack to drive effective Digital Transformation for our customers.


Our SaaS (Software as a Service) value proposition - we have developed a Ubiquitous IoT and Data Digital Twin infrastructure platform that we host in our customers’ Azure subscriptions that accelerate their time to value by as much as two years, as a buy vs build investment decision.


Our platform supports clients in a variety of vertical markets from High Tech Scientific Instrumentation, Pharma, Utilities, Manufacturing and Retail and we focus on four specific transformational pillars which are Sustainability and De-Carbonisation, Optimised Operations, Energy Management and Smart Connected Products.



We have built a name for ourselves within Microsoft as a solution provider focusing on Sustainability and De-carbonisation solutions and we have some interesting projects in the early stages of development for Energy Management and Electric Vehicle Fleet commissioning which is becoming a clear differentiator for us in the marketplace.

The Company’s normal working hours are 9.00 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday for a total of 37.5 hours per week. However, you are required to work such additional hours as may be necessary for the proper performance of your duties.


The Role

EdgeMethods builds IoT products and solutions on top of Microsoft Azure.

We are looking to expand our team with a Junior Data Engineer, who has a strong interest in developing, monitoring, and maintaining data pipelines to enable data driven decision making. Including the ability to create deliverable solutions given the right level of training and support, all hosted and running in Microsoft’s Azure Cloud Platform.

You will be required to work closely with members of the development team, to gather requirements, help define best practices in data models, engineering standards and processes, as well as collaborate with stakeholders and system SMEs. The role is mostly project-orientated working across different projects for a variety of our important clients.

The development team, and this role, are UK based and work remotely, so the applicant must be comfortable working in a remote team environment. IoT and sustainability is a rapidly expanding area of technology and a major driver for Microsoft’s future workloads in Azure, making this an exciting opportunity to develop unique technical skills.

The role of Junior Data Engineer will report to our Chief Technical Officer. The team is UK remote, working on powerful desktop rigs and using modern development team tools and approaches (Git, Teams, etc). The candidate will work primarily from home and be provided with all the necessary technology to do so.

Key Technical Requirements (Desirable Skills)

Recently completed a university degree that resulted in knowledge and understanding of languages such as Python, SQL and KQL.

Reading and writing data from files and performing basic manipulation, querying, and analysis using packages such as pandas.

Previous experience working with either Python, R, Scala, KQL or SQL, in a permanent role, internship or apprenticeship.

Introductory level of experience/understanding of Source Control, GitHub, DevOps etc.

Business Analysis skills

Introductory level of experience using Microsoft Azure.

Understanding of the agile methodology and concepts.

A solutions-focussed approach.
