Main purpose of the role:


We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team. Our clients’ average portfolios are c.40 projects each year and your role will be to work with us to manage their concurrent projects of varying sizes where the management has been outsourced to us. You will be responsible for shaping and assessing the feasibility of each project and ensuring that everyone has a robust business case, scope, schedule, resource plan and cost estimate.



Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Taking ownership for the successful delivery of projects; giving leadership and direction to the team and effectively communicating with stakeholders.
  • Managing assigned projects from inception through to completion; following the client’s portfolio office project management lifecycle and gate review process.
  • Working alongside key stakeholders to develop requirements and agree objectives, benefits, scope, deliverables, milestones and budgets.
  • Building project teams made up of subject matter experts from across the client’s departments. Working closely with the client portfolio office you will ensure roles and responsibilities are clear and understood and that each work package has a lead.
  • Lead project meetings and communications, ensuring all project team members are aligned, understand the goals of the project and are completing tasks to the agreed project milestones.
  • Ensuring all technical pre-requisites for a project are understood and communicated to the project teams as appropriate.
  • Ensuring project initiation and the project checkpoint processes are adhered to and tracked.
  • Maintaining a resource and budget forecast for all projects and reporting to the portfolio office on a regular basis.
  • Creating and updating all project management documents, taking accountability for the timely escalation and resolution of issues and risks.
  • Escalating project level risks to the portfolio office by submitting monthly project status reports.
  • Taking accountability for reporting to senior stakeholders and project sponsors on progress to date (against time, quality and cost criteria) via steering committee meetings.
  • Following and contributing to the client portfolio office governance as required.


Person specification:


  • Experience in a project management role within a law firm or associated professional service sector – highly desirable.
  • Experience of working within a consultancy could be advantageous.
  • Strong track record of project management assignments that have resulted in successful delivery of solutions that meet or exceed expectations in terms of business and financial goals.
  • Experience of business process and operations within an enterprise IT environment.
  • Strong experience in building and sustaining effective and trusted relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of writing business cases, including benchmarking against the consequences of the ‘do nothing’ scenario.
  • Experience of project lifecycle methodologies such as Prince 2 and IT best practice frameworks such as ITIL.


Role specification:


  • Cloud adoption readiness (Azure fitness for purpose) – This is a supported analysis of the current “as is” state of their physical data centre infrastructure and systems to see what can be taken into the Microsoft Azure cloud and what needs to be modified to fit into the new environment.
  • Portfolio and Services analysis (e.g. AX and iManage growth strategy) – This is another supported analysis activity to understand what the growth strategy of current systems and ascertain that they understand if they can grow/ expand in the cloud. It will likely focus on the critical systems.
  • RFI and RFP process to source cloud managed service provider – Setting up and running the RFP process.
  • Project setup once the RFP is complete.
  • Undertake the actual DC move work.
