Lead all Quality activities across the H&W Yard supporting the GMs’ accountability of delivering a quality product. Hold direct responsibility for the design, implementation, communication, coordination, and overall management of Quality Assurance & Control initiatives, plans, and activities spanning H&W services across its target markets (O&G, Renewables, Cruise & Ferry, Commercial Marine, Defence).
Lead the design, deployment, governance, and assurance of H&W Yard Quality activities across the project lifecycle, supporting the winning and execution of contracts within H&W target markets. Defining and developing the quality team in line with project requirements and any emerging workflows.
Quality lead within the yard with an integral part within the yard management meetings providing quality analysis, producing performance metrics which demonstrate measurable QA/QC performance management with presentation to the Yard leadership team. Reviews the Quality related objectives for the site, managing actions to closure.
Engage and support group-wide initiatives directed by the CEO and SLT and led by Group HSQE Director and Group Head of Quality including the implementation of a group level certificate across all yards.
Governance of the Quality Management System through ownership of the yard quality internal audit schedule taking a risk-based approach to ensure the required policies, procedures and processes are adhered to, identifying conformance, non-conformance, improvements with actions tracked to completion.
Develop and manage quality governance throughout all project phases (Bid to Closeout / Review) through review and auditing of project goals, objectives and action plans to ensure Projects and activities meet the requirements of the Quality System, relevant standards and Specifications Responsible for the administration of:
- Project Quality Plans, and deliverables ensuring compliance with the Quality Management System
- Development of ITPs in line with the contractual QA/QC requirements.
- Governance through workface audit, project inspection and Yard internal Quality audit schedule
- Customer surveys, improvement meetings & NCR / Action management
Act as the Quality Assurance & Control Subject Matter Expert when called upon to address regulatory and agency compliance issues, third party consultants and subcontractor representatives. Support the Group Head of Quality during external audits.
Analyse trends, produce performance metrics which demonstrate measurable QA/QC performance management to the H&W Yard Leadership team and drive hard & soft improvements which exceed company targets. Review Quality related objectives for the site, manage supporting actions to closure.
Maintain close integration across the H&W group to share learning, best practice and collaborative working. Champion (or support) any key business specific activity as deemed appropriate by the Group Head of Quality.
Harness Lean Sigma / TQM techniques to embed industry leading standards & requirements into functional plans and company training plans. Lead by example as a key member of the H&W Yard Management Team exhibiting the company values and appropriate behaviours.
Develop / oversee project Quality strategy and deliverables across multiple projects / business sectors from Bid stage through to completion. Manage the quality team(s) to ensure that all Project Quality documentation / deliverables are completed, and effective Client relationships are maintained.
Provide regular status update reports on Project quality goals, leading / lagging quality indicators and non-conformance management. Drive quality improvement through robust corrective and preventive action and project / activity lessons learnt through recognised tools / techniques including Cost of Quality setting, implementing, and monitoring Improvement KPIs across the full scope of the Management System.
Liaise and interface with Clients, suppliers and other third parties in relation to systems operations, including hosting audits and assessments relevant to Projects and other certifications. Ensure suppliers and sub-contractors are audited on a risk basis, in compliance with the requirements of the standards and the Company’s systems.
Manage and develop resources to ensure the provision of an effective Quality service at all times to all projects / business sectors. Ensure that the Company is kept fully aware of all developments relating to any changes in quality Standards or requirements as identified through Bids and projects.
Liaise with Human Resource Department in relation to Inductions and Quality training arrangements for employees. Ensure that Quality staff assigned to Projects operate in compliance with the Company’s systems and enforce compliance by them and all Project personnel in a systematic and consistent way.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Lean Sigma Green belt (minimum)
- Degree (Hons) desirable

Qualifications & Experience:
- Third level qualification criteria minimum Level 4 (essential)
- Heavy fabrication or Shipbuilding Project experience (essential)
- Experienced Manager of QC teams (essential) QC certification (desirable)
- Project Quality Plan & ITP development (essential)
- Internal Audit experience (essential)
- Supplier Quality Management / Lead Audit experience (desirable)
- Lean Six Sigma Qualification (desirable)
