They are a leading furniture importer/wholesaler in the UK that has grown to be one of the largest companies in the furniture sector. Purpose of the Transport & Operations Manager Role:

Our client is looking for a dynamic, reactive, strategic Transport & Operations Manager to lead there transport department. This role is pivotal in ensuring that goods are delivered efficiently and on time, contributing significantly to the overall sales and service quality.


Main duties and responsibilities of the Transport & Operations Manager Role:

  • Oversee a team of driver & logistics staff, ensuring a high level of performance and job satisfaction. Provide training, guidance, and support as needed.
  • Completing analytical tasks to improve efficiencies and processes with will ultimately drive profitability
  • Manage the in-house transport fleet, ensuring all vehicles are maintained, serviced, and compliant with all regulations.
  • Work closely with courier services and external logistic fleets to arrange and optimise delivery schedules.
  • Continuously assess and improve transportation strategies to reduce lead time, increase efficiency, and support sales growth.
  • Ensure that all transportation activities comply with legal and safety standards.
  • Monitor transportation costs and work on strategies to reduce expenses without compromising on service quality.
  • Address and resolve any issues or delays in the transport process, implementing long-term solutions to recurrent problems.


Experience/knowledge requirements for the Transport & Operations Manager:

  • Proven experience as a Transport Manager.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent Excel experience for manipulating data.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Good understanding of logistics and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and toos.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
