In this pivotal role, you will lead the Academic Advisory Group and Industry Advisory Group workstreams, bringing together experts in net zero technologies to deliver external insight into the APC, and share externally with relevant stakeholders (comprised of industry, government, and academia). The successful candidate will be able to challenge the status quo, and not shying away from controversial topics with the aim of seeking consensus on views to bring greater value to the APC’s stakeholders. You will lead initiatives aimed at gathering technology insights, facilitating constructive debates, and providing strategic advice to guide the automotive industry and research community towards a sustainable future.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Performance, the successful candidate will have proven programme management experience with a focus on cross-industry collaboration and will already have a strong network within academia, industry and research communities related to sustainable transport technology. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills the successful candidate will be confident to influence a diverse set of stakeholders and be able to bring both strategic thinking and insight to help develop actionable business recommendations.

Responsible for:

Collaboration Leadership:

Forge and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders in academia, industry, government, and research institutions to create a vibrant collaborative network. Establish and maintain partnerships with thought leaders, experts, and influencers in sustainable automotive and enabling technologies. Build networks within the APC to identify future technologies, prioritise critical supply chains, and engage the breadth of industry from startup to large, established organisations.

Programme Development:

Design and implement comprehensive programmes that facilitate the exchange of technology insights, research findings, and best practices in taking mobility to net zero.

Organise workshops, debates, and forums to encourage open discussion, foster innovation, and drive collaborative problem-solving. Lead feasibility studies through a competitive process to ensure insight is gathered in the most effective ways. Identify gaps in research, particularly focussing on opportunities for research to drive competitiveness. Arrange a twice yearly “Future of Technology” event, sparking debate amongst panellists, speakers, and attendees on topics affecting the future automotive industry.

Strategic Advisory:

Work with the Head of Strategy to feedback from these groups proposing opportunities around strategic direction to the internal teams based on the insights gathered from the collaboration, ensuring alignment with net zero goals and industry strength.

Collaborate with senior leadership to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the sustainable transport technology landscape.

Community Building:

Act as a catalyst for building a community of experts, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and continuous learning. Develop and maintain a robust platform for information exchange, networking, and resource-sharing.
