Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in structural steelwork to join our client’s growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in managing the financial aspects of steelwork projects from inception to completion. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed within budget, on time, and to the required specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare accurate cost estimates for steelwork projects, including materials, labor, and other associated costs. Develop and maintain project budgets.
- Tendering: Assist in the preparation of tenders for new projects, reviewing drawings, and specifications to ensure a comprehensive and competitive bid.
- Contract Management: Negotiate contracts, manage subcontractor agreements, and handle all contractual documentation.
- Value Engineering: Provide advice on cost-effective solutions and alternatives to meet the client’s requirements without compromising quality.
- Cost Control & Reporting: Monitor and report on the financial progress of projects, identifying any cost overruns, and recommending corrective actions.
- Site Visits & Progress Tracking: Conduct site visits to track progress, review costs, and ensure that projects are running smoothly.
- Change Management: Manage variations and changes to scope, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Final Account Management: Prepare and negotiate final accounts, ensuring the project is closed out efficiently.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with specific expertise in structural steelwork.
- Strong understanding of steelwork fabrication, design, and construction processes.
- Excellent knowledge of contract law, cost control, and project management.
- Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- MRICS or working towards is desirable.
