The Role

We are looking for a Planner to join our growing team, working within our Development Planning Team. This role is ideal for someone with 1-4 years of post-qualification planning experience, either in private consultancy or local authority. You will work on a varied portfolio of projects, ranging from Class Q barn conversions and small-scale residential projects to commercial planning applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of planning applications, focusing on technical, site-specific projects.
  • Provide planning advice and feasibility assessments for clients, helping to unlock site potential.
  • Conduct site visits, client meetings, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications and supporting reports.
  • Monitor local authority housing delivery performance and planning policy updates.
  • Handle appeals and planning objections, negotiating with planning officers and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with the Strategic Planning Team on larger projects, with opportunities to gain experience in multi-phase residential and commercial developments.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and building client relationships.

What We're Looking For

 1-4 years of post-qualification planning experience, preferably in private consultancy but local authority experience is also valued.

 RTPI membership or working towards chartership.

 Experience handling a range of planning applications, including smaller-scale residential and commercial projects.

 Strong report writing, negotiation, and client communication skills.

 A commercial mindset with an ability to identify new business opportunities.

 A proactive, problem-solving approach to planning challenges.

 A full UK driving licence (for site visits and client meetings).
