The Quality Assurance & Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in enhancing business quality processes to ensure customer satisfaction. Assisting the Head of HSEQ in maintaining an effective quality system through proactive audits and the investigation of non-conformances to ensure quality standards are met and identify where improvements can be made. The role will also support the Technical Department in authoring and maintaining safety data sheets for the product range.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Assurance

  • Implement and maintain quality assurance measures to drive process improvement.
  • Take the lead with internal and external complaints, perform root cause analysis to develop appropriate corrective and preventative measures, and implement change within agreed deadlines.
  • Carry out quality assessment measures of incoming componentry and finished products.
  • Guide and mentor the business about any quality control and assurance.
  • Attend and support production team huddles.


Compliance & Audit

  • Co-ordinate a global overview of regulatory compliance and product stewardship practices.
  • Provide classification and labelling data, including transport classification for products, such as REACH, GHS/CLP, ADR, etc.
  • Generate and maintain finished product SDSs using LISAM and/or LYCOS.
  • Lead the internal audit programme in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Escalate compliance issues, breaches, or incidents and ensure appropriate remedial actions are taken.
  • Perform regular quality checks on production lines to ensure production standards are being met.
  • Ensure compliance to all other HSE & HR Policies & Procedures.


Health & Safety

  • Ensure systems and processes are followed to minimise the environmental impact of the operations.
  • Ensure all activities on site are carried out in a safe manner, in line with policies, ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environmental statutory requirements are met.
  • Support with the implementation of health, safety, and environmental management systems.


Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Using problem solving methods to understand system or process failures.


Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen events.
  • Support continuous improvement projects by supplying relevant data.


Communication

  • Maintain close working relationships and excellent communication with all departments.
  • Interpret and communicate legal text and standards at various levels within the business.
  • Ability to develop and present data/findings using various types of media.


Reporting and Documentation

  • Support with administrative duties associated with document control within the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are monitored and presented.
  • Ensure personal goals and objectives are aligned with the business improvement plan.

  • Good understanding of chemicals and manufacturing processes
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, have strong team player skills as well as being able to work on your own initiative
  • Demonstrate commitment to providing a quality service and have a flexible, positive, and logical approach.

  • Experience of managing projects
  • Experience with continuous improvement activities.
  • Competent with the use of Microsoft Office software. Experience with SAP desirable.
