We are recruiting for a Senior Data Engineer / Analyst for one of our client's near Belfast.


The Senior Data Engineer / Analyst will be required to support a major analytics platform utilising Azure Data Factory, SQL Server 2016+, and ETL tools.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Maintenance: Perform basic installations, replace consumables, ensure installations work correctly, and document the work.
  • Infrastructure Support: Assist with infrastructure operations under supervision.
  • ETL Job Monitoring: Oversee and support scheduled ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) jobs at all levels.
  • Data Environment Planning: Help in the planning and design of data environments.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain all necessary documentation, including requirements, design, testing, operations, interfaces, and user guides.
  • Testing: Carry out test scripts under supervision, record outcomes, report issues, and understand the role of testing in system development.
  • Technical Support: Provide Level 3 and other technical support as needed.
  • Programming: Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor simple programs/scripts.
  • CI/CD Development: Focus on high-quality solution development with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment.
  • Database Assistance: Support database-related activities.
  • DataOps: Manage data pipelines, monitor them, and support production.
  • ETL & Data Architecture Knowledge: Gain an understanding of ETL processes and data architecture.
  • Data Design Services: Aid in the planning and implementation of data design services, including sizing and configuration for customers.
  • Software Building: Create software builds from source code and conduct integration tests, noting any failures


Key Skills Required:

  • Data Expertise: Minimum of years of deep engagement with data-related tasks in application development, data warehousing, and analysis.
  • Database Development: Skilled in creating databases to back advanced web applications.
  • ETL Proficiency: Experienced with ETL tools like SQL Server Integration Services and Azure Data Factory.
  • SQL Server Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL Server 2016 or newer.
  • Azure Familiarity: Competence with Azure services is a plus.
  • Automated Testing: Adept at writing automated tests for data integrity.
  • Database Engines: Proficient with database engines such as MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL.
