Banking & Finance Associate (1–5 PQE)

Are you a talented and driven Banking & Finance solicitor looking to take the next step in your career? Our client needs an Associate to join their dynamic and highly collaborative Banking & Finance team, where you'll work on high-profile domestic and cross-border financing transactions across a range of sectors.

About the Role

As an Associate, you will play a key role in supporting our team across all areas of Banking & Finance. Our practice covers leveraged finance, real estate finance, structured finance, Islamic finance, and receivables finance, as well as restructuring of existing facilities. You will work with a diverse client base, including major clearing banks, commercial and private banks, non-bank lenders, investment funds, institutional investors, corporate borrowers, hedge funds, and family offices.

They operate as a tight-knit, non-hierarchical team, ensuring a collaborative and supportive working environment. This role provides an excellent opportunity for career growth, hands-on experience, and exposure to complex, high-value transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transaction Support: Assist on all aspects of financing transactions, including loan terms, security documents, and conditions precedent.
  • Lead Deals: Take responsibility for transactions, handling loan and security terms independently.
  • Mentorship & Development: Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Client Engagement: Offer clear, practical, and commercially focused advice to clients.
  • Business Development: Attend and contribute to client marketing and networking events.
  • Research & Knowledge Sharing: Stay up to date with legal developments and contribute to knowledge initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to relevant legal and regulatory obligations, including SRA Standards and Regulations.

Requirements & Experience

  • England & Wales qualified solicitor (1–5 PQE).
  • Broad experience in general banking and finance matters.
  • Strong technical skills with a commercial, solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship management skills.
